This provision, in conjunction with the NIS 2 Directive, which classifies qualified trust service providers as essential entities and non-qualified trust service providers as important entities, extends the range of public and private entities that are required to implement the renewed eIDAS Regulation and information security rules and increases the compliance threshold that these entities must cross when providing electronic identification schemes and qualified and non-qualified trust services.
