The EIDES Association organized 8th International Conference

On 5 November 2024, the EIDES Association organized the 8th International Conference on e-
Identification and eTrust Services for Electronic Transactions, ZEIDES 2024, at the Brdo Congress
Centre.
The main focus of the conference was on the implementation of the eIDAS 2 Regulation, which
entered into force on May 20, 2024 and brings a number of changes and innovations in the field of
electronic identification and trust services to enable and facilitate the exercise of the right to
participate in the digital society in a secure, reliable and trustworthy manner for public and private
entities and individuals in the European Union.
The conference ended with a round table at which the participants discussed in particular issues
relating to the upcoming digital wallet, trust service providers and the changes that the NIS2
directive will bring in this regard. The importance of the electronic ID card was also emphasized, as it
would be worthwhile to make better use of it in electronic services in both public administration and
the private sector.
